Kitchen Sink Medicine to Build Immune Health

I tell my daughter we are having a “magical shot of health” every day when I put together these supplements for her to take in her smoothie or juice.

When she was very little, I weaved in a little story how the magical medicine would travel into her body and deposit beautiful white light into her cells to help her always feel good.  She would add the light was “fairy light”, which made me smile.

Here are the supplements I use to make the “magic” of immune health stay resilient:

VITAMIN C: Good old Vitamin C is anti-viral and anti-bacterial and should be increased to at least 2000 mg daily if taking it in supplement form during winter seasons to help with prevention and boost immune function. Increasing foods high in vitamin C is always the best – pure squeezed orange juice, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, spinach, tomatoes are just some of the great foods that help your child get Vitamin C.

VITAMIN D is essential throughout the year but even more in winter in northern hemispheres due to our reduced amount of sunshine intake.  I always suggest to parents the whole family take a minimum of 3000 iu per day in the winter, which equates to 3 drops. Reputable companies making quality Vitamin D include Vimergy, and St. Francis Farms.

ZINC is vital for immune system function.  Zinc controls immune system messaging within the cells and is also an anti-oxidant (prevents cell damage) and is anti-inflammatory.  In cellular lab cultures, zinc has been shown to stop viral reproducing in minutes.  One study showed that zinc inhibited SARS coronavirus in test tubes. I use a liquid Zinc product by Vimergy that can be added to juice for kids to easily take without resistance.

QUERCITIN is a plant pigment found in red wine, onions, apples, berries and green tea.  Quercetin is one of the most abundant anti-oxidants found in our diet and itself has strong anti-viral properties.  The major benefit of taking quercetin with zinc is that the quercetin will push the zinc into the center of the cell where the zinc can stop the virus from reproducing. An apple a day saying applies here so get your kids into the habit of having an apple a day or a smoothie filled with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.

DEEP IMMUNE by St. Francis Herb Farm is a fantastic product to take daily.  Again, it’s a liquid tincture that can easily be added to the juice or smoothie to prevent resistance from your kids.

I encourage you to take the “ounce of prevention” route and try using these supplements through the winter months.  And remember, now you know better, so chose to do better!
